Amy Thomas

Senior Attorney

A San Antonio native and graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, Amy brings a depth of experience shaped by decades in immigration law and a longstanding connection to the DMCA legacy. She began her career as an associate with Joseph De Mott from 1994 to 1996, focusing on employment-based immigration matters at a time when the firm’s foundation was actively taking shape.

After a period away from legal practice, Amy returned to the field in 2012, joining DMCA and quickly reestablishing herself as a versatile and trusted advocate. Her work spans the full spectrum of immigration law, seamlessly navigating both employment-based and family-based matters. In the business immigration space, she has extensive experience with high-level and complex filings, including EB-1 extraordinary ability petitions, national interest waivers, O-1 visas, PERM labor certifications, and a wide range of nonimmigrant visas such as TN, H-1B, E-2, B-1/B-2, and F-1.

Equally, her practice reflects a strong commitment to individuals and families, guiding clients through processes such as adjustment of status, consular processing, DACA, naturalization and citizenship, VAWA petitions, U visas, and removal of conditions. Known for her thoughtful approach and steady guidance, Amy works closely with foreign nationals to help them navigate critical moments and achieve long-term immigration goals.

In addition to her legal practice, Amy has contributed to the development of future attorneys, teaching Immigration Law at the University of Texas at San Antonio for several years. She remains actively engaged in the broader legal community, currently serving as Chair of the State Bar of Texas Immigration & Nationality Law Section Council and as the AILA liaison to the San Antonio Field Office.
