Evelyn Galvan

Attorney

Evelyn Galvan is a native of Detroit, Michigan and is proud of her parent’s homeplace of Guanajuato, Mexico. She is an alumna of the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy where she focused on immigration and education policy and Eastern Michigan University where she earned a Masters degree in higher education.

Evelyn graduated from Detroit Mercy School of Law summa cum laude. She was awarded the Vivere ex Missione Award, an annual award presented to one graduating law student who best exemplifies the mission of University of Detroit Mercy and demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence. While in law school, Evelyn was President of the Hispanic and Latino Law Student Association, executive board member for Moot Court participating in national competitions, as well as a Law Review member. Evelyn’s Law Review note was published titled Removing the Evidence Blindfold: Why the Michigan Rules of Cross-Racial Identification, Other-Acts Evidence, and Flight Should be Race-Conscious.

Since a young age, Evelyn has had a passion for fighting for justice. She was an immigrant rights activist during the years when DACA passed and advocated for immigrant rights generally. Evelyn has worked in immigration law offices, legal aid services, and as a public defender. Evelyn previously served as a Civil Rights Senior Investigator at University of Michigan investigating claims of discrimination and harassment. Most recently, Evelyn was an Associate at a corporate law firm.

Evelyn joined DMCA in 2025 as the first associate attorney in the firm’s growing Dallas office, helping establish and expand the firm’s presence in one of Texas’s fastest-growing legal markets. Working alongside DMCA Partner Paul Hunker, a former Chief Counsel for ICE, Evelyn represents clients in removal defense, family-based immigration matters, and complex immigration cases. Her combination of litigation experience, policy knowledge, and unwavering commitment to immigrant communities allows her to provide thoughtful, strategic representation to clients facing some of the most challenging moments of their lives.

As the Dallas office continues to grow, Evelyn plays a key role in advancing DMCA’s mission of delivering high-quality, compassionate legal services while expanding access to experienced immigration representation throughout North Texas. Her dedication to advocacy, academic excellence, and public service makes her an invaluable member of the DMCA team.
